Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalms 119:105 (NIV)
God’s Word light’s our path through this dusty earth -encouraging, exhorting and admonishing us for the purpose of strengthening usin the faith. Indeed, the Truth is the greatsanctifier of the soul. We grow insanctification (becoming more like Jesus) as we hear, read and apply the Truthto our lives through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
We are reminded in Deuteronomy the secret things belong toGod but the things revealed in His Word belong to us and our childrenforever. We must live with the tensionbetween the mysterious things we do not clearly understand and grab holdtightly to and apply what is revealed. TrustingHim with the mystery. God in His wisdomgives us exactly what we need to know. He has graciously given to us His Word to be our guide for life. Pray each time before you read it as thepsalmist did to open your eyes that you may discover wonderful Truths in HisWord. These are not to be mere idlewords for us, as Moses stated, they are to be our life.
I wonder how many of us take thisseriously. We often find ourselvesmuddling through – day after day – taking no thought of this precious gift –much to our own harm as it is also the ultimate “paraklesis”(encouragement), admonishing, teaching and equipping us in the faith for everygood work and strengthening us to walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel. As believers in Christ our goal is to grow upin Him – to be more and more like Jesus and we do this through His Word. It is our instruction manual for all oflife. Never, never neglect it.
Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. Psalms 119:165 (NIV)
