I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul. Jeremiah 32:40-41 (NIV)
God delights is doing us good, Amen? Yet oftentimes we remain confused on what is actually “good”. Sometimes His “good” gifts arrive in the packages of trials and tribulations and things not of our choosing. Indeed, Jesus promised us this yet that does not mean He is a harsh and cruel task Master. Remember, the mighty oak tree is dependent upon the winds of adversity to send its roots down deep into the ground. Similarly, the Christian grows in their trials more often than at times when everything is going swimmingly well, Amen? Ease never produces much - if anything - profitable. We get fat and sassy and uber comfortable in our ways. And that is not the point of our lives. God is always in the process of conforming us into the image of His Son and He uses all things allowed toward this end. Also, our tribulations are often the choice tools of His choosing. And whether we realize it or not, we all want to be like Jesus too.
God wants us to find our sufficiency and strength in Him as there is a “fullness of joy” in Jesus – with Him, we are never found wanting. Breathe in the sweet air of all the promises of God – they are ours to claim. As we keep our faith strong it will keep our joy stable. Believers in Jesus are children of the King of King. It is not fitting for us to go about with a drooping countenance and constant murmuring and complaining - not to mention fearfulness and worry. We wonder when we see the wealthy all downtrodden and depressed, how much more so for the child of the King. When we are confident that all He allows will work for our good, that Jesus is our friend that sticks closer than any brother and that He is our Good Shepherd Who always takes care of His sheep we will maintain a peace and joy that is unearthly in its nature. Our treasures are out of Satan’s reach. Show your faith by your joy – increase your faith and increase your joy!

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)
