“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Entrusted with the same life-changing power that our Lord Jesus came graciously exuding, believers are equipped with the Holy Spirit to shine our bright light pointing others to this life and light giving Source as well. At its core, it is basically beggars telling other beggars where to get Bread (or light in this instance!). Our lights are to brightly shine, pointing others to the Light that is truly life. This is to be world altering. Every sphere of influence which God places the Christian is purposely designed for them to shine His light for others to see. Not to bring us glory but to bring Him much glory by bringing others to Jesus. We are to be the Light in the darkness, shining God’s Light wherever He places us.
Enabled by the Master to perform His duties of holiness – we are both taught and empowered by God – the glory being unearthly in its nature. To do God things in these jars of clay is to take hold of the life that is truly life and one that is without regret. It makes us more like Jesus separating us from the darkness of the world and enabling us to shine like the stars in the universe as we hold out the Word of life.
A light is supposed to shine or else what good is it? We aren’t to hide it rather manifest it. It is meant to give direction, pointing others to the proper path. And a little light dispels much darkness, Amen? Just light a simple candle in a pitch black room and you get the drift. Therefore, light radiating people live purposely so that others can see Jesus in them and give Him glory. We cannot know Jesus and remain unchanged. Anyone in Him is a new creation.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
