“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Weary and weak?  Tired from the toil?  Buried in burdens?  Cast down?  Just plain sick of it all?  Jesus issues a call to all – “Come”.  “Come” - weary and wanting, heavy laden and hurting, lonely and lost.  “Come” - healthy, rejoicing, and loving life as well.  “Come”, says He.  He never casts a soul away.  Never.  He lovingly desires to place  His yoke upon us.  We trade our burdens of sin and a guilty conscience for His perfect robe of righteousness.  We trade our insatiable lust for more for His sufficiency and strength which, BTW, never finds us wanting.  His yoke for our burden of sins – cleansed only through His blood, His sufficiency and strength for our insatiable souls.  There is no other way.  There is no other Savior.  We will discover Our Lord is both gentle and humble in heart.  No cost.  “Follow Me” is His call to all and rest.

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?  Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.  Isaiah 55:1-2 (NIV)
