We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
1 John 4:13-16 (NIV)
What do we have that we did not receive and if we did receive it why do we boast, the great Apostle queries. We were all made by God and for God – no exceptions. Yet, we foolishly go our own ways – much to our own harm and chagrin – either depending upon our own arm of flesh or some other arm of flesh, getting us nowhere fast. The One Who makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is yet to come is the One to Whom we are to rely upon - totally. Jesus constantly relied on His Father. We are not essential to God but He is most assuredly essential to us.
There is a great advantage to the soul that has a proper view of God’s mercy, love and power. His mercy and love are as great as His power. And it behooves us immensely to have a rich understanding of both His goodness and His love. If we think that God is against us and delights in our misery then we will surely have difficulty loving Him, Amen? Yet, God always has our best interest at heart for all He allows in the lives of every heir of mercy. We must seal His love deep within our understanding and guard it as we would great riches – and even more so. He is infinitely and inconceivably good – always – whether we can comprehend that or not. We can trust Him with our lives and with the lives of all we all hold near and dear. Anxiety and fretting are to be given no place in the lives of the children of the King. Presently, we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror yet one fine day all will be made pristinely clear. I am confident there will be a collective “Ahhhhhh!!!” among the saints. Reliance upon Him is always best for a life – though, albeit, oftentimes extraordinarily difficult. He never promised life would be a mere walk in the garden – at least not after Adam and Eve that is! It wasn’t for His Son either. Yet, reliance on Him results in a life well lived, every.time. And in the end of our lives, this is what we want – not regrets.
Let Him guide you and lead you into all Truth. He has left within His saints the deposit of the Holy Spirit to equip, teach, guide and direct us in the way we should go. He has not left us as orphans. Depend upon Him, He will never let the righteous fall. When God becomes lovely in our eyes, it produces growth in all our graces and conforms us more and more into the image of Jesus, Who was to be the firstborn among many brothers. Also, the greatest we can imagine God to be is so far from the reality of Who He actually is. And He is Who He is all the time.
“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.”
Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
