Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. Psalms 145:13-17 (NIV)
Every Word of Scripture is “Yes” and “Amen” as Paul writes to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV): “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV) as well: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Lastly, King David writes in Psalms 18:30 (NIV): “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” God is always, always faithful to His promises and loving towards all He has made. We can depend and stand upon the Truth of His Word as well as His faithfulness because He never veers from either.
Every word of God is precious – like gold nuggets waiting to be mined. And since it is alive, it teaches us different things each time we prayerfully approach it. A great prayer to pray before reading Scripture is Psalms 119:18 (NIV): “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Indeed, Scripture is a precious pearl of great price being a blessing to both read and meditate upon. Remember, it is not the bee that briefly touches the flower that brings forth the sweet honey rather it is the bee abiding upon it. As we abide in God’s Word - meditating upon its precepts – and applying its Truths to our lives, it grows us up strong in Him, enabling good works to flow forth freely from us. And equipping us to walk as Jesus did - the highest goal of life. We neglect this precious gift to our own harm. Our knowledge of Scripture gives us hope as well. His Words are as music to our ears and a cordial to our sinking spirits and trembling hearts. It is rich in its undeserved, unfailing Words of love towards us. All is discovered and applicable in the Book as “He has said…”- every believer in Jesus is free to glean and possess. One starves their own soul when they do not feast on the blessings of Scripture.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:12-13 (NIV)
