Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
God is in control and He is love. That should put our greatest fears at rest. He who makes known the end from the beginning can take care of our cares – however overwhelming they may be to us. Cast all of them upon His broad shoulders. We were never made to carry them ourselves. We are to continually turn them over to the One Who is able to do all things. This includes changing our hearts and carrying us on eagles wings as we go from “strength to strength” passing through our valleys of tears.
Worry never proves profitable for the child of the King. Fear cripples and hinders God’s best for our lives. Indeed, it often paralyzes us preventing the perfect peace that is to be ours in Christ Jesus. He tells us He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because they trust in you. Jesus warns against worry and fear in the Sermon on the Mount. He points us to consider the birds of the air and the lilies of the field taking to heart how God provides for the least of these. Not a sparrow - much less a saint - falls but that the hand of God is in it. There is also great comfort in knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us and that everything He allows in the life of His heirs of mercy is for their pure unmingled good and His glory never one surpassing the other. Those who cannot calmly leave their affairs in His all sufficient Hands yet rather chooses to carry their own burdens resorting to human wisdom will discover themselves drinking from broken cisterns that will never hold water. Claim His myriad of promises – they are ours to claim. He is always faithful to His precious Word.
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalms 55:22 (NIV)
