But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)
God is in control. Complete control. And He has always been in control. Nothing takes Him by surprise. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from His knowledge nor a hair falls from our head. We never discover Him wringing His Holy Hands wondering what to do. God states through the pen of Isaiah in Isaiah 46:10-11 (NIV): “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.” And He is good.
God is also Love. John tells us in 1 John 4:16 (NIV): “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.” Indeed, He loves us with an everlasting love as well as rejoices over us with singing. His desire is for His creation to come to Him, to fellowship with Him, to walk with Him - as it were - in the Garden in the cool of the day as He did with our original parents. Lastly, all these attributes are wrapped up in His pure, unadulterated Holiness. A life with God as our portion is both high and noble. Never allow yourself low thoughts of the Creator simply because the finite mind cannot fully comprehend the infinite. One need only look up, as Isaiah so beautifully writes in Isaiah 40:25-26 (NIV): “‘To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?’ says the Holy One. ‘Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?’ He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Indeed, His wisdom and power no one can fathom.
With Him we need not fear. When God is on our side, who can be against us? His perfect love for us casts out our fears. And He calls us to be strong and courageous. We serve an all-powerful Holy God Who amazingly delights in our communion with Him. Indeed, He tells us He will never leave us nor forsake us. Therefore as Moses writes in Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV): “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)
