“In your anger do not sin”; Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV)
Never venture near the door where sin dwells. Flee from it as you would a serpent. If you don’t want to get burned don’t walk on the coals of temptation. Trying to lose weight? Don’t go to the donut shop. It is the same analogy for every weakness mankind has – and there are many. We all know our own “Achilles Heels” so to speak and if we venture to play near those fires we will get burned every time. Just ask Sampson when you get to heaven. God has much better things for us than that. Don’t think for a minute you are strong enough in your own flesh to withstand the wiles of the devil either – again, read the story of Sampson. Just as God has a plan for your life so too Satan and it is one that is both orderly and technical and, BTW, one we are incapable of winning in our own strength. We need the power of the Holy Spirt.
Heaven is a place where there will be no more sin – where sin will cease to be our constant indefatigable enemy. There will be no tempter to ensnare our feet, no selfish ambitions or vain conceits causing our downfalls – praise Jesus! We will don glorified bodies and there will be no weeping, death, mourning, crying or pain for the old order of things will have passed away. Praise you Jesus! As all sin brings with it a death sentence – death to something – trust, love, dreams, hopes, etc. – in King Jesus there is only life and life in abundance. Sin is not our friend. It is not for us rather it is against us. Follow it out to the end before you venture down that road.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 (NIV)
