Oh, the blessing of fresh starts, Amen? Clean pieces of paper with no mistakes, new notebooks on the first day of school, forgiveness for our many blunders – whatever fresh start we may be given it serves as a balm to the soul, right? Every new morning God gives a fresh start. A clean slate - so to speak - every day. Each day filled with His Loyal Love and compassion. A day in which we can go forth seeking to live our lives for an audience of One by pleasing Him in all that we say, do and think – towards all in our spheres of influence. There is no need for us to be downcast as we set our hopes on God. We are to never call into question His great love for us.
God oftentimes allows His children to fall into long and great difficulties and afflictions before bringing them out of it, Amen? Just as He did King David who fled from the hand of Saul. Yet, He is teaching and conforming us in this process things which we could not have known apart from it – no matter how much it may hurt. Using these trials to polish us as sparking jewels in His crown – so to speak. We should not allow our souls to be discouraged or cast down as this usually does not bring us nearer to God yet further away – taking things into our own hands and receiving a full blown pity party for it – of what good is that? There remains no victory in our own strength. We are to trust in the constant flowing supply of God’s grace to obtain a fresh start for each day. A clean page full of hope in Him – knowing that He will give us the power to walk in the abundance of His grace and peace which He so readily desires to provide in whatever He calls us to walk through. This never comes from our own strength – because we cannot muster this up – rather through the Holy Spirit’s power indwelling within us.
The saint cannot go on old grace either. Like manna every morning, we need the nourishment and power of God’s Word to go forth every day. Strengthened by His power to do His bidding – even as we faithfully go forth in mourning carrying our sheaves to sow. The grace must flow for us to accomplish His good works through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalms 43:5 (NIV)
Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. Psalms 126:5-6 (NIV)
