Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. To be sure, it is a blessing to know that God’s faithfulness is not dependent upon us or our circumstances, Amen? God is faithful because that’s Who He is. We are to set our hearts upon Him Who is faithful forever. He is the Rock which stands immovably secure giving us a firm place to stand. “A mighty fortress is our God” as Luther so beautifully penned “a bulwark never failing”. We can set our hope and confidence in Him. His grace being as bright and as sure as the daily sunrise and sunset and even more so. Oftentimes we have a want of trust in God which lies at the root of all our sins and weaknesses and we can only escape this by observing His faithfulness and dwelling upon it. Indeed, we will be encouraged by remembering all He has done in the past knowing His faithfulness continues to this day and forever. All the promises of Scripture are still available to the saints today. His faithfulness remaining unshaken. Our eternal security lies in this.
We can trust our God. His power is never exhausted, His kindness never changes nor His love ceases, His wisdom is vast and knows no bounds, His faithfulness is never blemished and His goodness never experiences reduction. When we forget these things, it is easy to fall into sin and idolatry. This is why it is so important to recall His faithfulness in our lives over and over again as we are so prone to forget and wander.
Believer, take your stand upon the promises of His Word and rest in His faithfulness.
