The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; Psalms 34:15 (NIV)
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18 (NIV)
Do not think for a minute that the Savior is inattentive to your cries for help. He is always close to the brokenhearted heir of mercy. Just as a mother sits by the bed of the babe that is febrile - though she has many others – the one that is sick receives her greatest attention – so too our Savior and even more so. His ear is ever attentive to our cries while arrogance and stubbornness stops His ears and stays His hand.
It serves us well to remember that the night of affliction and pain is as much under His control as the brightest of days when all is going swimmingly well. He both forms light and creates darkness yet all He allows is used for the saints ultimate good and His glory never one surpassing the other. He is conforming us into the image of His Son and He uses trials and tribulations as some of His choicest tools. Like the Apostle Paul’s thorn that he pleaded three times to be relieved of and was told “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Causing the Apostle to proclaim: “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV). If God does not change our circumstances, He changes us in our circumstances and we can trust Him with our lives and the lives of all we hold dear. His eye is always on us for our highest good. Always.
“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV)
