“I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (NIV)
God bestows upon His people great peace, the unsearchable riches of Christ, the rivers of joy and the vastness of His love. His treasures are never exhausted, ultimately leading us through gates of pearls and pleasures without end. The abundance of His blessings being inexhaustible, giving more than any earthly father could possibly bestow, to say the very least. He is the proper Object of our delight and pure satisfaction. With Him is never wanting rather fullness. And He has turned us from His enemies into His children through the blood of His Son. He writes His Name upon us declaring “You are Mine”, and His, we desperately want to be - whether we fully understand that or not. His love and tender kindness is a great miracle of mercy to be sure as in and of ourselves, all of us are well, so stinking unworthy.
While God afflicts with purpose to purify and to humble, He also often withdraws comfort to stir our embers into a fiery blaze, keeping us from being dormant and useless in His kingdom work. Strengthening us as one works out to strengthen a muscle. And this, my friend is a blessing. We want to be used by Him to further His kingdom, encourage the saints and to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord Jesus in order the world may know. If we are still living and breathing, there is always “further still” for us to go. The rebel knows Him not as a Father rather as a judge yet if they turn and flee to Him in repentance they will find Him running towards them with open arms of mercy, sealing their pardon with a kiss. There is no sin so great that Christ’s blood does not cover – praise Him!
Further, He is found by those not even seeking Him. Out of love, He condescends and stoops low when there is no necessity for Him to do so. Ever searching for the lost sheep. It is a wonder how He stoops to the “polluted dust and ashes” as the likes of mankind. And He knocks at the door as such sinful “lepers” as us – enemies in both heart and mind. His desire is for none to perish but all to come to repentance. He entreats compassionately again and again and again. His gracious patience is amazing. The stunning steadfast love and compassion of our Savior! “I delight in speaking well of His Name,” as George Mueller once wrote. He will never fail us rather enables us by His grace to trust in Him.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
