Intimately Personal: He Knows You By Name

But now, this is what the LORD says--he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Our tender Shepherd has a kind heart and any weaknesses of ours melts it, wooing Him and drawing Him forth in abundant love and compassion. Some are strong in the Lord and others weaker in their faith yet He is impartial in His care. He protects them with His powerful arm, bountifully loving each with His tender compassion. We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses as He was tempted in every way as we are yet was without sin. He cares deeply for those who cost Him so dearly. He feels our pain. He is the Good Shepherd Who watches carefully and tenderly and continuously over His flock. Further, He is always nearest to the ones presently walking through the “fire” - taking them from “strength to strength”. We do not need to fear. He bestows grace, giving way to grace, giving way to grace - sufficient to meet every need He allows. If we do not have the need we do not have the grace – He is no grace waster. In Him is perfect peace, quiet rest and sweetest comforts.

As a mother tends to her child, He carries us close to His heart, gently leading those who have young. He does not delegate the task of love but condescends to rescue and preserve the most unworthy of His servants. Such great love is this! How could we not but love Him? His goodness inclines Him to make His precious promises and His faithfulness engages His mighty Hand to keep them. He will never fail those who put their trust in Him and under His wings we find refuge. We are not desolate wanderers going forth in a trackless waste rather beloved children of the King, watched over, supplied, cared for and defended by our Father. “All the littles of your little world are thought of by our great God.” (Spurgeon). Be encouraged!

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
