Jesus Loves Me This I Know: Oh the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus

The Lion Loosed

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Have you ever considered the depth of the love in the heart of the Savior?  How comprehensive is the love of Jesus!  There is nothing that concerns our welfare that is not important to Him.  Believer rest assured that the heart of Jesus cares about your lesser affairs – the breadth of His love is such that we can go to Him for all matters that concern us.  If He did the greater, won’t He do the less?  He cares for us as a good father cares for his children.  One could never fully measure the love of Christ.

He grew up as a Tender shoot as a Root out of dry ground , no beauty, no majesty that would attract us to Him. There was nothing in His appearance that we would desire Him. Despised and rejected by men, He was a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering.  One from whom we hid our faces, He was despised and we esteemed Him not.  There was no sorrow like His sorrow nor love like His love.

Was it not enough that He was willing to pray and sigh and weep over miserable wretches as ourselves let alone bleed and die for us?  As if being hated, blasphemed, slandered and buffeted were not enough, He was also scourged, wounded nailed and crucified.  And to top it all off, He had to also undergo the wrath of God for me and for you.   What kind of love is this?  Oh the transcendent love of Christ.  What heart can conceive it or tongue express it?  Shall such a love only receive our cold hearts and affections?  Shall His tender care receive from us a cold shoulder?  Remember, we are no longer desolate pilgrims wandering around in a trackless waste, but a beloved child of the King, watched over, prayed over, supplied for, cared for and defended by our Lord.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:  “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”  Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
