“I the LORD do not change.” Malachi 3:6 (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 (NIV)
God is the stability of our times, Amen? He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What He says He will most assuredly bring about – His Word is more precious than gold than much pure gold. The stability the anchor gives the ship when it has obtained a solid hold is similar to the hope of a Christian – but far more so for the Christian. When we stand on the glorious Truth that with God there is no changing like shifting shadows, we can rest secure. What the Christian has had He will always have. As we pull promise after promise of Scripture to claim, we can take it to the bank that they will indeed come about in His due timing. His power, wisdom, truth, justice, stronghold in the day of troubles are just as sure for us as they ever were for those written in His Word. Whatever His attributes were in ages past, they are now still. He is our sure Helper, our Refuge and our stronghold in the day of trouble.
And His love – ah His love – it is everlasting – He even rejoices over us with singing. Can you even imagine? He loves as much as He ever loved and He is full of mercy and grace. And when finally the creation is set free from its bondage of sin and death, His love will continue to endure.
What a precious assurance we have in the fact that God never changes. We serve One Who has immortality – whose years there is no end and whose person there is no change. He is the Solid Rock on which we can stand.
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)
