Not Slow: God's Perfect Timing

The Lion Loosed

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

God is not early nor is He late (often contrary to what we might think or even hope!).  He is intentional, infinitely patient and totally aware of the slowness of changing a human heart and giving it an entirely different leaning (the greatest of all miracles in my personal opinion).  His timing is perfect as He works all things out in conformity to His good and pleasing and perfect will and He is providentially involved with every detail of our lives.

Take note of God’s intricate involvement in Joseph’s life in Genesis Chapters 30-50 (well worth your read) and realize this is not unique to him.  Our Lord is just as involved in our lives.  He is active and orchestrating each detail to bring about His purposes and plans to give us both a hope and a future never leaving us nor forsaking us all along the way -  working all for good.  Just as Joseph, in the end, told his brothers:  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.  Genesis 50:20 (NIV).God is not early nor is He late (often contrary to what we might think or even hope!).

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.”Jeremiah 29:10-14 (NIV)
