Child of the King, if the Lord God is our portion how could we ever be lacking? Christ is fullness in Himself and He fills His body the church with everything in every way. He Who is all-sufficient in Himself is all-sufficient for us as well. We are not easily satisfied or perhaps we may be far too easily satisfied as C.S. Lewis stated – we long to remain playing in the sandbox when God offers us a day at the beach. All we can wish for is found in our divine portion. Inspiring the psalmist to state: “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my hear and my portion forever.”
Let Him fill your cup so that you will no longer be found wanting. Wanting people are so needy and, quite frankly, as palatable to be around as spoiled milk. It is His desire to fill us to the fullness with the unsearchable riches of Christ. All good things come by His Hand and true satisfaction only comes from Him. The world screams our contentment is found elsewhere yet the child of the King knows that only Jesus is sufficient enough to fully satisfy the longings of the human heart.
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
