For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward. Jeremiah 7:22-24 (NIV)
Where do we place our confidence? Our adaptability and obedience will point to where our confidence is placed, Amen? Those who claim to live in Him must walk as Jesus did - pointing others to the Savior. He came to earth to do His Father’s will. When we walk like we walk it points others to us, Amen? This calls for our obedience and willingness to follow the Master just as it did for the original disciples. “Follow me” is His call to all and we must be unwavering in this mission. He leads we follow. This call for us reminds us to be flexible - our plans not written in stone – rather it is God’s plans that are written in stone. We go fearlessly forward in obedience to His revealed will until He changes our course of action, our places of living or our whatever. We do not run ahead rather we pray for His best for our lives and that is always found standing firm in His will, mature and fully assured – believe me. We cease to cling to the old patterns or habits as God is in the process of making all things new and that includes me and you. We do not want to miss out on His best for our lives.
Clay is formed by the Maker for His purposes and glory not our own. Yet, for His children, it is always for our good. We are valuable in His Hands. It is He Who gives us worth because we are made in His image, we have been bought by the high price of the blood of His Son and we go forth in His power. He has plans for us to walk in and we do not want to miss them by our disobedience to His leading. Therefore, we are to honor God with our bodies in all that we say and do and think. This calls for us to follow His leading - going forth in His strength - pointing others to the Living Water – not to ourselves. We do not marry ourselves to our own agendas and plans - no matter how palatable they may be - but we are malleable to bend to His leading even if that means we change our well thought out agendas and beloved “To-Do” lists. We are to allow the heavenly interruptions for our own good. Do we want God’s way or our way? It will show in how we live out our one and only lives. Wisdom is always proved right by her actions. The time to act for this is now. Only one life to live and it is soon passed and only what’s done for Christ will last (C. T. Studd paraphrase).
Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6 (NIV)
