The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”** Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)**
We are of the greatest value and worth – every.single.one.of.us. So much so, that God sent His Son to die for us. We may not always feel like it, but we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Knit together in our mother’s wombs – just as the Creator designed – filled with great purpose. He never makes a mistake. He who makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient time what is yet to come, knows everything about each one of us – all our weaknesses, wins, wirings and wants – and remarkably and graciously - loves us still. His desire is for all of us to come to Him. “Come to me,” is His plea – and this all for our very best. If you want to live your best life, remember Whose you are and Whom you serve. The King of kings and the Lord of lords calls us. Even us. And He desires a relationship with us.
We were made by Him and for Him. He has a wonderful plan for each life. And He deemed all He had made “Good”. Yet, what God meant for good, Satan meant for evil and sought to destroy it through all sorts of distortions. But God is greater still. And the soul will never find rest and perfect peace apart from Him. He designed us for a specific purpose and equips believers through the power of the Holy Spirit to do what He had planned in advance for us to do. Apart from Him we are all insignificant and unacceptable. But He is the Master of making beauty out of our ashes. He bestows upon each of us great value and worth. We are to be a reflection of the image of the glory and goodness of God and we are loved and treasured beyond all imagination. We were designed by God and for God to reflect His image. We are all His image bearers – reflecting His glory and goodness to a world that so desperately needs Him.
It does us well to remember that we are not our own but we have been bought by a high price and we are to honor God with our bodies. Each of us is accountable to God for this one life we have been given and that is to love Him with all our heart and soul and strength and mind and our neighbor as ourselves. The Prophet Jeremiah tells us in Jeremiah tells us in Jeremiah 17:5-8 (NIV): “This is what the LORD says: ‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.’ ‘But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.’”
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)
