“I the LORD do not change.” Malachi 3:6 (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 (NIV)
Our God and His precious Word are continuously the same – they are our never changing constant. Isn’t that a wonderful fact? Man’s ways are variable but God’s are eternal – ordering all things according to His good, perfect and pleasing will. Nothing takes Him by surprise or goes contrary to His plan. We can trust His Word and we and trust Him with our lives and all the lives we hold dear.
Everything else goes through changes – all things are constantly in the process of change, Amen? Even the heavens and earth will one day pass away. There will be a new heaven and a new earth – which will not be tainted by any sin - when God makes all things new, Hallelujah! Yet with God, as with Scripture, there is no change like shifting shadows. His years have no end and His person has no variance. He is our constant faithful. On Him we can place our full trust. On Him we can depend. What He says that He will do; what He proclaims, that He will bring to pass.
With all the change we experience in this uneasy, troubled life is it not a wonderful blessing to rest solidly upon the Truth that the Lord does not change. His power, wisdom, justice and Truth are as steadfast as He - His mercies and faithfulness new every morning. All generations have taken refuge in Him. Believers in Jesus also have the valuable assurance that His love will never fail and that nothing will separate us from that love. Indeed, He loves us with an everlasting love. He is our Faithful Constant.
Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalms 90:1-2 (NIV)
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
