The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16 (NIV)
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)
We miss out on such blessing when we cease to pray, Amen? The call from our Great Creator God is continually there – “Call to me.” He always remains faithful on behalf of His people, giving us sweet views of His grace and sovereignty. He enables us to rest secure in Him and guides us with His all seeing eyes upon us. Nothing is too hard for the Master. We can leave our petitions in his all sufficient mighty hands. Knowing what He allows is always for our best interest – whether we immediately realize that or not. If we saw as He saw, we would be in total agreement with His plans. He often gives us refreshing discoveries enabling us to quietly submit to His will and to trust in His unending mercy. We must be content with His “Yes”, His “No”, or His “Wait”, continuing in supplication until our souls find rest in Him alone. His timing is perfect and His plans for His heirs of mercy are to prosper and not to harm, plans to give hope and a future – even in the most difficult and trying of circumstances He allows. Nothing takes Him unawares. It is a wonder that we so often find ourselves neglecting this great treasure of prayer as the least glimpse of His glory exalts the soul, transforming the heart and mind making us desirous of what His hand bestows.
We so often do not know what is best for us, Amen? We are so prone to kick against it as it is seldom delivered in “packages” of our choosing. He who makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is yet to come, always has our best interest at heart and we can trust Him with our lives. We see only in part, a mere poor reflection. He sees in fullness. And no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless – blessed is the one who trusts in Him. He will keep us in perfect peace as we fix our eyes upon Him – weaning us from the world and raising our eyes and inclinations toward the heavenly. The one who is filled with Him is no longer needy. He amazingly changes our hearts giving us an entirely different leaning. We can trust Him with our lives.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.” Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV)
