For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)
Scripture is replete with the promises of God. In His mercy He has placed them there for our encouragement and peace as we journey through this life. There are promises suitable for every circumstance we may discover ourselves to be in. They build our faith and strengthen our walks as we apply them to our lives in prayer.
It is our duty to mine the Scriptures for them – obtaining the treasures in our hearts and minds. It is a blessing to have them stored safely in our hearts to be able to bring them up when needs arise. Meditate on them often as a promise treasured brings great peace and comfort in our trials. We do a great disservice to ourselves when we allow them to be neglected due to our lack of knowledge of God’s Word. Meditating on them squeezes the sweetness out of them giving us a balm for our needs and building our faith.
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)
