This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.” Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
Stillness and quietness of soul in our world is a rarity, Amen? Yet, it remains a necessity - although this fact is unbeknownst to many. With the plethora of screamingly loud noises and the dings, dongs and jolts coming from all of our devices our souls are kept in chronic upheaval rather than any form of peace. And Gods says, “Be still and know that I AM God.” Is anything too hard for Him? And, believe me, knowing God is what makes us strong. By this, I mean seriously seeking to know more of Him – not just merely knowing about Him. There is a vast difference. He longs to woo us with His whispered Word as we come to Him in the quietness of our hearts – and it takes quietness to hear Him. He will not shout over our noisy distractions.
Satan detests our being still before the Lord as well - if flesh wasn’t enough, right? The coffee gets spilled, the baby wakes, the phone rings and the interruptions begin to pour in like the breaching of a dam. We owe it to ourselves to find time anyway. When we don’t, we suffer - as well as all of those in our spheres. This is nothing new. Isaiah addressed it in our Scripture above. In repentance and rest is our salvation, in quietness and trust is our strength – but they would have none of it and oftentimes, sadly, neither will we. It is a terrible tragedy to turn away from one’s own best interest, Amen? Let Him feed you, comfort you, strengthen you and give you His perfect peace. Be still before Him and ask Him to. He is more than willing.
“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
