The Lesson Learned

Don’t we all seem to have short memories when it comes to the blessings we have received in Christ?  Things can be going along swimmingly well – family in tack, money in the bank, food in the refrigerator – no bumps.  We somehow wrongly begin to imagine that all the “good” allowed is deserved.  Indeed, we take much for granted.  So. Much.  Then all of a sudden – as when a strong wind blows or the blinking of an eye – troubles begin to abound. Problems overtake us like a glove on a hand and we are left thinking God has turned away – that He doesn’t care.

We must remember that what He allows in the life of His heirs of mercy is always for their good and His glory.  The “thing” may not be good in and of itself but what it is doing in our life is for our good.  Trials strengthen and they are His chosen instrument for conforming us into the image of His Son.  Don’t shun the hard.  Rather embrace what He allows.  He has our best interest at heart.  Remember, remember, remember that He is working all for our good.  Look for the patches of God-light as they most assuredly will be there.  He is always faithful to His Word.  Wait for Him.  He will strengthen you with all power so that you may not only endure the trial but have unearthly joy in the process.
