By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.
Hebrews 11:24-26 (NIV)
What is it we value? Or perhaps I should ask, Who is it we value? Is it not uber easy to value and live for the things of this world? Its loud and glitzy and exciting trappings can cause even the staunchest to cave in their resolutions. When the world’s offerings in all their palatable selves begin to lure us we can know our focus is amiss. Those who keep their eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, are those who will stand. As God told Abraham all the way back in Genesis 15:1, He tells us “Do not be afraid, Abram. I AM your shield, your very great reward.”I AM your wage, I AM your reward. Make no mistake about it reader, one can never outgive God. Whatever “meager” form of sacrifice – however that is demonstrated in a life – will be nothing in comparison to what God bestows on His child of the King. Scripture tells us “no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless”. Fix your eyes on the Author and Perfecter of your faith. Choose Him and you choose all. He is the Pearl of great price.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.” Matthew 16:24-27 (NIV)
