The Lesson Learned

Believers are not to be fearful and doubting, wringing our hands in fret and worry rather trusting. It is part of our inheritance as His children to have a peace that passes understanding. This comes not from our circumstances but from His mighty Hand directly to our hearts. Christians are not of this world rather of His – think higher. Jesus wants us to be like Him – to walk as He walked – through His power.  The “If you can question?” in our above verse was given by Jesus to the father of the critical child to demonstrate His ability and to build the father’s faith. Nothing is too hard for our Lord. Nothing. Faith is to set no limits on God’s power and to keep a keen eye on God’s will. It is not simply going to a candy store and picking all we want. God gives only what is for our best to make us more like His Son – and that is what we want as well – whatever that answer is.

God desires for us to reach the heights of faith which every great saint that has ever walked this earth has attained to and He is chronically in the process of building this in us. There is not one height that a saint has reached that we ourselves cannot attain through His power whether through our exploits, our faith, our ability to endure persecutions for His sake, our likeness to Jesus or whatever. We have the exact same power within us to achieve by faith these amazing heights – and God greatly desires for us to accomplish this as well. We are not to blend with the world rather to stand out like stars in the universe as we hold out the Word of Life. Our actions are to point others to the Source of our actions which is, of course, the Lord Jesus. The One Who gives the power gets the glory.

We need to quit our groveling in the dust and rise - satisfying our souls in God alone Who is the ultimate soul satisfier – all else will be found wanting. He takes us to heights beyond our feeble abilities and imaginations, enabling us to stand firm. And the view? Amazing.

I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalms 18:1-3 (NIV)

You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. Psalms 18:28-30 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
