“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
As believer’s in Christ we are safe in the Hands of the Lord Jesus. He will never let the righteous fall. Indeed, Jesus Himself stated in John 10:27-30 (NIV): “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” King David also rightly states as well in Psalms 37:23-24 (NIV): “If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”
If you are His, you are always His. The Lord protects the way of the righteous. He has His eye on them for their good and He upholds them with His righteous right hand. There is no safer place on earth to be even, and perhaps especially, when the winds are howling and fear is creeping in. His perfect love drives out fear. Come what may, God’s people are never out of His Hands and all that He does allow in the lives of every heir of mercy will be ultimately for their good. That is the promise of His Word, and He will never go against His Word. We keep our eyes fixed on Him and remain steadfast and secure under the mighty wings of Jehovah where we find refuge. And whatever He may call us to do, He gives us the strength to carry it through – His mighty power indwelling us through the power of the Holy Spirit. We rest in the promises of His faithfulness and His love for us.
Satan wants us to believe that Jesus has left us here to fight our battles alone. Nothing could be further from the Truth. He is a “with-us” God and He does not leave us as orphans to fight our battles on our own. He is our ever present help in times of trouble. Whatever comes our way, under His wings we will find refuge, His faithfulness being our shield and rampart. We have no need to fear, as His perfect love drives out fear. We are “safe and secure from all alarms” as we remain leaning on “the everlasting arms,” the amazing hymn goes.
The eternal God is our continual support particularly when our troubles abound and we begin to sink under the load. Yet, even when the seasons wax long, we can rest assured as we lean upon His all-powerful everlasting arms. He will never let the righteous fall as Satan loves to taunt, rather, He will keep us from falling and our faith from failing.
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’”** Deuteronomy 33:27 (NIV) **
