All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Tired of walking useless, rootless, purposeless? Seeking our own way and staying lost,  wandering about in a trackless waste? Easy to do in our world of busyness, distractions and constant clattering noise - all geared to keep our focus on what is not important – keeping us wallowing in the temporal in lieu of seeking hard after the eternal. What we live for matters greatly, whether we choose to believe that or not. There is a God and He has great plans for every life. We are here for a purpose – every.last.one.of.us. It will all be pristinely clear one fine day. You can take that to the proverbial bank of your choosing.

So then, how are we to live? Paul strongly urges us in Romans 12:1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” And how do we go about renewing our minds?  By being students of His Word. Scripture constantly urges us to go back to this truth. It is God’s revealed will to us and we are without excuse if we neglect its great tenets. Indeed, we are to study to show ourselves approved unto God – workmen who do not need to be ashamed and who can correctly handle God’s Word. We are never to build our core values on suppositions, feelings, old wives’ tales and our own judgment on what we think is right or wrong without first prayerfully taking it back to God’s Word to see if it fits. If it does, wear it, if not, we can disregard it.

Scripture is unbelievably relevant to our day (as it has always been to each day and time). Who cares what the world thinks or what we even think, but it matters greatly what God thinks. We owe it to ourselves and to our families. Believe me God’s Word can stand up to all the scrutiny you want to put it under and it will forever stand as it is eternal, standing firm in the heavens. We are not to rob ourselves of its great Truths. Scripture changes us from the inside out, making us what we are not yet – ever conforming us into the image of Jesus.

Heart Savor

The Lion Roars

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalms 119:9-16 (NIV)

Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. Psalms 119:165 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
