“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
God’s Name is a strong tower to which we can take refuge – we can cast our cares on Him as well as rest secure in Him – for He cares for us. He has promised to guide us - with His eye ever upon us – leading us in paths of righteousness as well as restoring our weary souls. Sounds delightful does it not? The world, with all its people, professions and possessions cannot offer us this peace that passes understanding as it comes only from the mighty hand of God. He turns no one away who turns to Him. He tells us to trust in Him with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. In all our ways we are to acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight. And believe me, we want straight paths.
God’s guidance is always done with a loving hand and with an eye upon His heirs of mercy. He knows the temperature of the heat and keeps a constant watch over those He died for. As a good Shepherd, He knows what is best for His sheep. Many things He allows may not look “best” or particularly “good” in our sight but we can rest assured in His promises that everything He permits in the lives of His children will be for their ultimate good whether we perceive it to be good or not. Furthermore, we are enabled to stand firm in it. Believers who do not continually kick against God’s best for their lives will develop a serene confident peace that God indeed has their best interest at heart in all that is permitted. Indeed, He is their sufficiency and strength.
Knowing the deceitfulness of unrighteousness we must be wise as serpents to detect and avoid the enemies design for our ruin. We do not want to be betrayed by the enemy’s kiss, Amen? Do not live carelessly in this world by making merely s profession in the Lord Jesus without following in His will and way. When we live inconsistently we lead others astray as well as do ourselves much harm. Lord help us to be sincere and true, resting securely in You. God never fails the eyes of those who look up to Him.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. Psalms 27:5-6 (NIV)
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalms 55:22 (NIV)
