“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.” Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV)
God desires our wholehearted devotion and willing minds. He will not share His rightful throne of our lives with anyone or anything. This includes ourselves. Number one commandment is no other gods before Him. This again includes ourselves. Are we on the throne of our lives or is God? Do we merely give Him lip service yet our hearts remain far from Him? He is a “with us” God and desires to walk with us as He walked with Adam in the garden in the cool of the day. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. So how do we go about seeking so that we may find and knocking so that the door will be open? We are to go to Him in prayer – not some babbling repetitious mumbo jumbo – but in all sincerity, humbly, as a child. Transparent, as He knows our hearts already – better than we do ourselves. The best position for a child of the King is prostrate before His throne. As we humble ourselves before the Creator He lifts us up in due time. We can cast every burden on Him, every desire of our hearts (as He knows them already anyway!). As we humble ourselves before Him, He lifts us up in due time. Cast your cares on Him for He cares for you.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
