You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Oh the transforming power of perfect peace! The state of undisturbed, untroubled well-being. And it is the object of God’s divine promise to every heir of mercy. It is to be the state of their soul.  In our afflictions, we learn the necessity of the lessons of living by faith and not feelings. There is so much uncertainty in the myriad of all of life’s continual changes, Amen? God desires for us to be steadily unaffected by all the ups and downs of earthly hopes yet we often are not too dissimilar to tempestuous seas. The soul can be easily melted as burning candle wax from troubles warring from both inside and out. We must learn to trust and rest in our unchangeable God. God uses our continually changing circumstances to point us to back Him – the One Who never changes. We have lived far too long trusting in our feelings and reasonings rather than resting in His perfect peace between His shoulders and on His great promises. God desires for us to continually choose to live by faith on His promises rather than on our fleshly perceptions so that we might be a peace permeated people of which God created us to be.

As we rest upon His faithfulness and His promises, He changes our perspectives. Nothing is too hard for Him. And He will never prove Himself unfaithful – we may be unfaithful but He never will.  He is a never failing fountain. The life of faith takes hold of the life that is truly life and brings the soul much peace. He will keep us in perfect peace as we steadfastly trust in Him. We are to keep our eyes fixed on Him – the Author and Perfecter of our faith Who walked through the worst to give us the best – and that is Him. He will never fail us.

We are to let the peace of God guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. Let us not rely on ourselves but on Him. His perfect peace being other worldly in its nature.

The Lion Roars

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
