And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. Psalms 12:6 (NIV)
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? Psalms 18:30-31 (NIV)
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5 (NIV)
God’s Word is Truth – His entire Word. He has not given us the option of picking and choosing the palatable and forsaking what we deem the difficult. It is the whole of Scripture that makes the Believer and that we are to embrace and exhibit through His power. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He is not like man who vacillates with the wind. He makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is yet to come. His purposes will stand. What He has said He will bring it to pass. You can depend on it.
God’s Word is also His precious gift to us. It is to be our guide for life. Indeed, as Moses stated, it is not to be mere idle words to us rather it is to be our life. It is alive and sharper than any double edged sword dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow and judges the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts. When we earnestly approach it – praying for the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to its truths – God enables us to see into His very heart – glimmers of His glory. Scripture is a deep mine of costly treasure that one can never exhaust. Those who do not delve into its depths deprive themselves of true wealth.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:17-19 (NIV)
