All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18 (NIV)
Truth is not relative rather absolute and love is not optional rather commanded for every believer in Jesus Christ. God gives us no right to pick and choose what we will believe or not believe in His Word according to our wants and whims. All of Scripture is God-breathed. Further, God is love and we are to love like He loves through His power with all our hearts and souls and strength. Seeing Jesus’ face in our every encounter. God’s definition of love is an action - patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, rude or self-seeking, it is not easily angered and it keeps no record of wrongs, it does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth – always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. And unlike Hollywood love, Biblical love never fails. It never fails. How refreshing is that – a fail proof love because it is a selfless not selfish love.
Our faith leads to our love spilling out to the saints. A love that strengthens rather than panders, a love that helps equip the saint to fight the good fight of faith rather than wink at their weaknesses. We need each other – strengthening, encouraging, lending a helping hand by being Jesus’ hands and feet and words to those in our spheres – especially those who belong to the family of faith. Our attitudes should be the same as that of Christ Jesus Who, though God, selflessly gave up all for us. Be very careful then how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity. Watch your life and doctrine closely
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (NIV)
