As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”** Romans 3:10-12 (NIV)**
Our souls - this great jewel – is the safest when it is placed in His all-powerful Hands. Indeed, there is no safer place. We can trust Him both with our lives and with the lives of all we hold dear. He can even make dead dry bones come to life. And He is never found wringing His Hands in confusion or in want, for nothing takes Him by surprise and everything belongs to Him. To be sure, He is never at a loss or scratching His Holy Head over what to do. He has the power over life and death and everything in-between. There is much comfort and peace for those who have Him as King of their lives for He takes our flawed selves and bestows upon them “a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair,” as the Prophet Isaiah tells us. It is He who makes us into mighty oaks of righteousness – plantings of the Lord for the display of His splendor. There is nothing in us innately good. And He can easily transform our messes into masterpieces – as we are all flawed and broken. Every.last.one.of.us. There is no one righteous, not even one, Scripture tells us. What He seeks from us is a willing, believing heart.
God’s ability to take our meager and transform it, as He did with the little boy’s “loaves and fishes” to feed thousands, is a great indicator of His love for our willingness of heart. He is forever examining the heart because out of the heart flows the actions. And, Scripture states, our hearts can be very deceitful. He takes our meager and makes it much – leading, guiding and directing in the path we should go. He has a plan and He provides the power for every life and we are living our best lives when we are standing firm “in all the will of God, mature and fully assured”, just as Paul wrote Epaphras prayed for the Church at Colosse. Further, He is the Master of making beauty out of our ashes, taking the vilest sinner and turning them into the greatest saint. Just ask the Apostle Paul when you get to heaven. In Christ there is hope of victory for He keeps us from falling as we go forth in His power – and not our own. This gives us much purpose, joy and confidence as we run the race He has set forth for us to run. Giving us the greatest assurance of the great value of our lives.
To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. Jude 1:24-25 (NIV)
