He said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth--you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.” 2 Chronicles 6:14 (NIV)
God is not looking for lukewarmness in His heirs of mercy – of what good is that? Indeed, Jesus tells us in Revelation 3:16 He desires to spew those out of His mouth who continually walk in this way. Or in more common vernacular, it makes Him want to throw up. He states He prefers hot or cold to the condition of lukewarmness. Nothing like receiving a tepid cup of water when you are hot and thirsty for ice cold or a cold cup of coffee when you are longing for hot, Amen?
He wants us to rejoice over what He rejoices over and weep over what causes Him to weep. Moved with compassion and zeal and motivated by what is good and pleasing and perfect in His sight. Loving Him to the fullest will most assuredly demonstrate in our actions.
We are to live so that others see Jesus in us - not us. When Jesus walked this earth He was anything but milk-toast, Amen? He was on a mission to be about His Father’s will and He was all in (to say the least!). That is also how He desires His saints to walk. It does us well to remember that “Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did,” as we are reminded by John in 1 John 2:6. We are not our own. We have been bought with the highest price. Therefore, we are to honor God with our bodies.
Scripture tells us in 2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” He is the One Who strengthens us to walk in a manner worthy of His high calling. We cannot muster up the power, it comes through the indwelling Holy Spirit. As we allow Him to take control in lieu of our own bias’s and bents, selfish ambitions and vain conceits, He transforms us and enables us to take hold of the life that is truly life – being an wholehearted follower of the Lord Jesus.
This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. In everything that he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered. 2 Chronicles 31:20-21 (NIV)
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 (NIV)
