John 1:3

Aardvarks, antelopes, alligators and ants; bumble bees, bullfrogs, butterflies and birds; caterpillars, chameleons, canines and cats; from the highest angel to the lowest worm – all things were created “ex nihilo” – out of nothing – by the Word in relation with the Father and the Holy Spirit. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit together in this mighty work of Creation. In my simple minded way, it is helpful for me to think of this Truth as follows: God the Father willed it (volition); God the Son worded it (verbal); God the Holy Spirit worked it (vigor).o;Holy Sopirit worked it. Holy I cannot help but be reminded of God’s words to Job in response to Job’s questioning of the Almighty. God tells Job to brace himself like a man and God would question him. The one way conversation went as follows:

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: 2 "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; and you shall answer me.
4 "Where were you when... Job 38:1-4 (NIV)

Then God proceeds to ask Job a series of questions throughout the next two chapters regarding the many aspects of creation of which, of course, Job was clueless – thus making him painfully aware of his own ignorance and insignificance in the entire matter. He had not been present when the earth was founded and filled; nor had he had any participation in the creation of it – much less the understanding behind it – why in the world did he think he was capable of advising God now? It would behoove us to think this question through for ourselves when we have a desire to instruct God! The prophet Isaiah tells us:

13 Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor? 14 Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding? Isaiah 40:13-14 (NIV)

The answer of course is no one. God’s thoughts and ways are so far superior and above man’s – we see only but as a poor reflection yet He sees fully. God speaks to this in the following words penned, once again, by the prophet Isaiah:

8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

It is utterly impossible for any one to indulge in a boastful, pretentious, self-confident spirit, if ever he has really measured himself in the presence of God. In Colossians, the apostle Paul gives the following glorious description of our Lord Jesus which affirms John’s words to us in our verses for today:

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Christ came as the perfect visible representation and manifestation of God; He created all things, He is before all things and in Him all things are held together. Christ is the Head of the body, the church and Christ has supremacy. He came as the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form manifesting for us what man’s eyes were not allowed to gaze upon and live, namely the face of God.
